I had become familiar with some basic ideas for thinking about composition, such as the rule of thirds, but I wanted ideas about how to generate a wider variety of compositions. I came across this blog post about 15 types of composition, and have been working with those for the past week.
I spent some time doing some quick sketches, for example, this circular composition sketch:
I’m enjoying mixing it up with the 15 different composition types. At the moment, some of the works are coming out too literal or close to the composition type, but I’m hoping that by working with them more, I’ll find ways to be loose with them while still creating cohesive compositions.
